23/12/25 - Merry christmas and a happy new blog

Hi! I'm Martian and this is just a little introductory post about me, this website, why I'm making it and what you can expect from it!

As I said my name's Martian, I'm a twenty-something year-old, bisexual, nonbinary, probably-neurodivergent-but-not-yet-diagnosed, comp-sci student. English is my second language with my first being brazillian portuguese.

I'm a little all over the place with my interests, I've never been able to really pin down what I like specifically (part of the reason for making a website is hoping to be able to "see" my interests gathered all in one place), but in general terms I like movies, animation, rock music and hip-hop.

I'd like to consider myself a visual artist, problem is, I haven't been drawing much for a really long time, my trouble with drawing (and any skill I try to learn) is I always create very high expectations for myself, then get frustrated when I don't meet them. But making this website has done great for my self esteem and taught me a lot, I don't like making promises but I may return to my artistic practice sometime.

As for this website, it's meant to be a sandbox of sorts, a place where I'm free to experiment and play, but also a very personal, safe space. My own mind-palace, in digital form.

It's very bare-bones right now because I've been fiddling with this thing for weeks and I wanted it to be up on neocities before the end of the year. I already have some plans though, I'd like to spruce up the landing page, add a to-do list and a change-log, other things that people usually have on their websites too like guestbooks and shrines and stuff (one day I'll make this thing responsive to different screen sizes, haha).

But that's all in the future, for now you can expect some blog posts around three times a month (four if the brainworms are really bothering me). I don't expect a lot of people to read them, hell I don't expect anybody to be reading this. But you know as well as I do that that's not the point, yeah?

But if you are reading this, just know that what I want at the end of the day is for this website to give you as much joy as it's given me. And if it's not doing that right now, I'll try my hardest to make it so. <3
